Grass makes milk makes ice cream

16 October, 2018 - Rosie Dalton

We were all pleased to see the rain after a very dry summer.
All that ‘rain dancing’ we did eventually paid off!
The grass is now growing and the cows are enjoying this autumn flush. Rain and warm days are
perfect conditions and the cows should be out grazing well into November.
And it is the goodness of the grass that gives our milk and cream the flavours unique to Daltons dairy ice cream. Pictured to the left is our lovely cow Brandy, and the poem below just fits perfectly.

The Cow

The friendly cow all red and white,
I love with all my heart;
She gives me cream with all her might,
To eat with apple-tart.

She wanders lowing here and there,
And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
The pleasant light of day;

And blown by all the winds that pass
And wet with all the showers,
She walks among the meadow grass
And eats the meadow flowers.
